Carol Evans has been volunteering for 31 years, Val Richards for 29, Lesley Taylor for 27 and Anne Puzey for 25. They have each been presented with a Murphy Award in recognition for their tireless support to the branch for over a quarter of a century.

The Murphy Award is a large black cat statue, presented to volunteers who has worked for over 25 years at Cats Protection, or to those who have made an exceptional contribution to the charity.

Cats Protection’s Regional Development Manager, Rob Hall, presented the award to the four volunteers. He said: “Without volunteers like Carol, Val, Lesley and Anne, we wouldn’t be able to help as many cats as we do. I’m sure if cats were able to talk, they would say a huge thank you too.”

Carol Evans, who has been volunteering at the branch since 1984, said “We were delighted to receive Murphy awards. It means a lot to have our cat-care work recognised. We are a relatively small group of volunteers and we do everything we can to help as many cats as possible in the community.”
