The adventurous moggy was discovered at the end of the vehicle’s journey, where it was undergoing maintenance work. Although it isn’t clear where he boarded the coach, it’s journey began at Pickering and made a stop at Leeming Bar.

The cat was then handed over to Cats Protection’s Gildersome Homing Centre, where he was named Wendall, the German word for traveller.

Catherine Hubbard, Deputy Manager said: “We are appealing far and wide in the hope that Wendall’s original owners see this plea and come forward. If we haven’t heard from them by Thursday 29 March, we’ll be looking to rehome Wendall, so we urge anyone who recognises him to get in touch. As he was not microchipped, we have no way of tracing his owners.”

Microchipping is important as it offers a safe and permanent method of identification and increases the chances of a lost feline being safely reunited with his owner.
