In memory of Suki
Su I lost my sweet Suki, age 19, on 12 February 2026. She follows her twin sister, Shandy, who passed two years ago. Shandy also has a tribute on this Memory Wall. Suki came into her own after we lost her sister, who bullied her relentlessly. She became closer to her human family and much braver. She would come into my bed in the morning to demand her treats; when she had had her fill, she went. She liked playing with wavy toys and she loved catnip. She became more confident of visitors: no more hiding next to the sofa thinking nobody could see her.(Spoiler: they could!) She watched television, sitting and looking quizzically at the moving image, following it with her eyes. Her favourite sitting position was paws crossed, on the arm of the sofa. Every evening she would sit by the couch and look into my eyes, telling me that it was time to get off so that she could settle there. Eventually she started jumping up and pushing me over to make room for her. She would put her head on the arm of the sofa and I would put my head on her – she had the most amazing purr – until she got fed up and jumped down. We used to have conversations: Me: rrow? Suki: eeea Me: rrow! Suki: mmmm! They say that both of them lived to a good age: 19 is equivalent to 96 in human years, I was told by a wonderful person from Cats Protection. Maybe that should lessen the pain of loss but of course it doesn’t. I miss you so very much, Suki, my beautiful girl.
