In memory of Katie
When I adopted Katie, the shelter told me that she was not a lap cat. This was the understatement of the 21st century. But she was beautiful and curious and, as I discovered as we both got old together, stronger than anyone or anything I have ever known and that includes my Glaswegian mother born poor into a world with no welfare state and no NHS and who would spend her teenage years during a world war. I will return with more stories about my middle aged lady who became my old girl as I did myself.
