We share a special bond with our pet cats.
They may bring us joy with their antics, provide us with comfort, and be a loyal companion through life’s ups and downs. Put simply, cats are part of our family.
However, when your world has been turned upside down by domestic abuse, cat owners can face an agonising dilemma.
It’s common for perpetrators to target cats and kittens as a way to coerce and control their loving owners.
But many refuges are simply unable to accept pets. Because of this, some victim-survivors may find it harder to leave for fear of what may happen to their loyal companions.
That’s why our Lifeline team works closely with charities like Refuge, the largest specialist domestic abuse organisation in England.
By working together, we’re empowering cat owners by making sure they have access to the support they need on their journey to finding safety from domestic abuse.
Using our dedicated network of volunteer cat fosterers, our Lifeline team arrange temporary, loving homes for cats until their owners are able to take them back to safety.
This, alongside the life-changing support available from charities like Refuge, gives survivors the chance to get back on their feet, knowing they will be together again with their beloved pet cat soon.
“We’re proud to partner with Cats Protection Lifeline. Knowing their cats will be taken care of provides much needed reassurance to survivors at a critical moment in seeking safety for themselves and their children.”
Lifeline is just one of the ways we are making a difference and your donation will go towards helping cats and kittens in need across the UK.
Please donate today and together, we can help make a better life for cats and people.
