Spot came in to the care of the Lichfield & Tamworth Branch of Cats Protection in a sorry state, after years of living life on the streets.
Growths had developed in both his ears, causing multiple painful infections and leaving him with hearing problems.
An operation to remove the growths was deemed the best way forward, and the charity launched a JustGiving appeal to help pay for the costly vet bills.
He also needed expensive dental treatment, originally having seven teeth removed. A further two teeth have had to be taken out as they were digging in to his lip.
Generous supporters have so far pledged more than £1,500 to pay for Spot’s treatment.
“Spot’s story has definitely touched people and we are so grateful to everyone who has donated to his cause,” said Sue Hocknell, Welfare and Team Leader at the Lichfield & Tamworth Branch.
“We still have a little way to go to cover the remainder of his vet bill so we would appreciate anything people can give.”
A dedicated volunteer fosterer has been helping Spot through his rehabilitation, ensuring he leaves his stitches alone and administering medicines – as well as showering him with love and attention.
Sue added: “’We are hopeful that at his next check-up he will finally be given the all-clear and we can start looking for his forever home,”
“Spot has become such a character within our branch and at the vets and we will miss him so much. Wherever Spot is he makes friends as he is so handsome and love cuddles.”
