Cats in Epping Forest can look forward to a much brighter future as a new branch of Cats Protection is being set up to cover the area.

Ginger cat having its head scratchedThe branch is specifically looking for volunteers to fill four roles consisting of welfare team leaders, website editors, a neutering officer and a secretary.

Vicky Lidbury, the charity’s New Branch Development Manager, is keen to encourage people to come forward to help the charity, and said: “Volunteering is a fun and rewarding experience, particularly if you have a skill that would benefit Cats Protection or would like to develop new skills by taking on a fresh challenge. Our volunteers gain a great deal of satisfaction helping cats to get a second chance in life, while meeting like-minded people along the way.

“We are looking for welfare team leaders to support a team of fosterers and cat-care volunteers, website editors who can help keep the branch’s website up-to-date, exciting and informative, and a neutering volunteer to help raise awareness of the benefits of neutering and promote the branch’s neutering schemes.

“We’re also in need of a volunteer secretary to ensure the smooth-running of the branch and to signpost queries from members of the public.”

The charity works hard to match people’s skills, interest and time availability to the roles on offer, so encourages people to get in contact.

More than 11,200 volunteers across the UK fill a variety of roles, giving them the opportunity to help cats, meet like-minded people and be part of a truly worthwhile cause.
