Run entirely by volunteers, the branch is looking to recruit a transport volunteer and someone who can help with publicity.
“Transport volunteers help move cat food, equipment, litter and even cats to and from vets, foster homes, and adoption centres,” said Ceri Netts, Cats Protection’s Branch Development Manager.
The branch also needs someone who can spare a few hours a week to help with publicity; writing press releases, liaising with local media and helping to compile newsletters and updates for the website.
Ceri added: “The branch does a huge amount of work to help local cats but we really need help to reach a wider audience.
“Publicity volunteers don’t have to be media experts, as the charity can provide assistance and training, but we do need someone who cares about cats and has bags of enthusiasm. By sparing just a couple of hours a week it can make a huge difference to needy cats. We are sure whoever takes on the role will find it incredibly rewarding.”
Cats Protection works hard to match people’s skills, interests and time availability to the roles on offer so encourages people to get in touch.
Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. The branches are part of the charity’s nationwide network of over 250 volunteer-run branches, 36 centres and over 120 charity shops that together help around 200,000 cats and kittens each year.
More than 10,000 volunteers across the UK fill a variety of roles, giving them the opportunity to help cats, meet like-minded people and be part of a truly worthwhile cause.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer for Cats Protection’s Blackheath & Deptford Branch should email bsuee@cats.org.uk or call 01825 741 995.
