Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Cats Protection had to make changes to our usual services. Read on to find out more about these changes. We will continue to update our advice regularly in line with Government advice.

Can I adopt a cat from you?

For the foreseeable future, we are continuing with our virtual homing approach, with one small change, our centres will be offering visits by appointment – giving you a chance to meet the cat you’ve been matched to. Collection of your cat will usually take place by appointment from one of our centres or branches across the UK, but in some circumstances we may be able to deliver your new cat to you. This is to ensure that we can continue to help home as many cats as possible by matching them with their perfect family.

Can you rehome my cat?

Our ability and capacity to take in cats may vary across the UK due to the local situation. We will arrange an appointment for you to drop your cat off with us. In some circumstances we may be able to arrange collection of your cat.

Are Cats Protection shops currently open?

Our shops have been open from 12 April (England and Wales) and 26 April (Scotland) and are following national and local guidance across the UK.

To keep our volunteers, employees and shoppers safe, we are implementing the following measures in store:

  • maintaining social distancing with our teams and encouraging customers to do the same
  • encouraging customers to wait outside if a shop is full
  • continuing to wear masks in our shops and encouraging customers to do the same (where possible)
  • Continuing to use till screens
  • Continuing to keep our shops ventilated as much as possible
  • Continuing to issue our teams with PPE
  • Continuing to provide hand-sanitiser stations for customer use
  • Continuing with regular and thorough cleaning
  • Continue to keep our fitting rooms closed

To find your nearest shop, visit Find a Shop.

Can I donate to your charity shops?

We’re always grateful for donations and really appreciate the generosity of our supporters. We’ll be putting procedures in place in every shop that is open to ensure we can accept, process and store donations safely. If you’d like to donate to a shop near you, we’d recommend phoning the shop first to arrange a drop-off.

If your local shop is closed due to regional or national restrictions we ask that you please hold onto your donations until we are able to receive them. Items left outside shops are at risk of being damaged through weather conditions or stolen, so we ask that you kindly donate to us during trading hours.

What will happen to the cats in your care?

We are continuing to provide high levels of care for the cats in our branches and centres.
