Enjoy a festive run up the scenic Leeds Canal this winter. This 5k route is all along the flat, which means that it is perfect for runners of all abilities, from novices to Ultra PB chasers!
Whether you're a seasoned runner or just want to enjoy a fun run, this event is perfect for all abilities. Fancy dress is optional but highly encouraged, so grab your most festive gear and spread some holiday cheer!
Every participant will be rewarded with tasty treats at the finish line and a bespoke medal to commemorate the day. The race takes place in scenic Bingley and promises a fantastic, jolly atmosphere.
There is no registration fee for this event; we just ask for a minimum sponsorship commitment of £50 to help the cats and kittens in our care. To register, simply head over to It’s Grim Up North’s website and enter the code CATS5 at checkout to secure your FREE place. Then, contact our fundraising team by email at: neysfundraisinghub@cats.org.uk so we can provide you with dedicated support throughout your fundraising journey. Hurry – limited spaces are available!
We encourage participants to get into the festive spirit, so feel free to wear your most creative holiday-themed fancy dress! From Santa hats to bauble-covered outfits, anything goes! If fancy dress isn't your thing, just wear comfortable running gear suitable for the weather, as the event takes places outdoors. Don't forget to layer up if it's chilly, and make sure your shoes are fit for running on wet terrain.

Of course! Spectators are always encouraged. We just ask that spectators stay clear of the finish line and any drinks stations along the route.
The event organisers will post the final results on their website (www.itsgrimupnorthrunning.co.uk) on Wednesday 4th December.
All participants must be aged 16 or over in order to sign up for this event.
Last year, the team at our Leeds Cat Centre rehomed more than 300 cats and kittens, and neutered nearly 220, thereby preventing even more unwanted cats being born in the local area. All cats and kittens in their care receive a thorough medical examination by a vet, vaccinations, treatment for fleas and worms, microchipping, any treatment required prior to rehoming, and most importantly lots of love and attention!
You’re able to nominate any local Cats Protection branch or centre to receive 100% of the money that you raise, helping cats and kittens in your chosen area.
If you’ve got any queries or concerns about this event, or the fundraising commitment, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by emailing neysfundraisinghub@cats.org.uk or by calling 07976 058545.
