Welcome to Cats Protection Northampton Branch

We're here to support cats and kittens in the areas of Northampton, Daventry, Towcester and the surrounding villages, covering postcodes: NN1, NN2, NN3, NN4, NN5, NN6, NN7, NN11 and NN12.

Run by a small team of dedicated, cat-loving volunteers, we're passionate about improving the lives of cats and kittens in Northampton, Daventry and Towcester, working to find loving new homes for local cats in our care and lost and found cats, as well as general education and awareness within these areas.

** Please be aware that from 10 June 2024 all cats aged 20 weeks or more must be microchipped and the owner's contact details must be stored and kept up-to-date in a pet microchipping database. Owners found not to have microchipped their cat will have 21 days to do this or may face a fine of up to £500. **

Please also note that the £10 neutering scheme is no longer available and so our local vets are not able to offer this option. Unfortunately, neutering vouchers are severely limited so applications with proven eligibility will be placed on a waiting list.

Eligibility criteria

• Means-tested benefits: universal credit, income support, housing benefit, council tax benefit, pension credit, income-based ESA, income-based JSA, working tax credits and child tax credits

• Benefits not eligible under this scheme: personal independence allowance/payment, child benefit, disability living allowance, attendance allowance, carer’s allowance

• A household annual income of less than £25,000 before tax

• Full-time students

Please do not embarrass our helpline volunteers by asking for a neutering voucher unless you fit the eligibility criteria. For eligible cat owners who would like to enquire if any neutering vouchers are available, please ring our helpline on 0344 700 3251.

Cat adoption in Northampton

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat? During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship.

All cats adopted from Northampton Cats Protection will have been vet-checked, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given precautionary treatment for fleas and worms. We ask for an adoption fee of £85 per cat and £105 per kitten to go towards our costs. Please be aware that you may need to bring an adopted cat back to the same vet for the second part of the vaccination and, in the case of kittens, for neutering.

If you live in rented accommodation we will ask for proof of your landlord's permission to have a cat. Please note, if you have a holiday booked for within the next four to six weeks, unfortunately, we are not able to reserve cats for more than a few days so please wait to enquire after your holiday.

Cats available for adoption from this branch are featured below. To express your interest in a particular cat, please enquire via their listing. If you have any general enquiries about your suitability, or the adoption process, do call us on: 0344 700 3251 or email us.

For enquiries other than those that are adoption-related, please call: 0344 700 3251 or email enquiries@northampton.cats.org.uk or use the contact form below.

You can find out more about adopting a cat from Cats Protection here.

Please note, to give our Adoption Team volunteers a well-earned break for Christmas, answers to messages and enquiries sent to our rehoming officers between Monday 23rd December and Monday 30th December will be answered as soon as possible. Please expect delays that week.
